The T Back Riser Recliner Chair

Pride Mobility

Designed specifically for those with back pain, the aptly named T-Back chair makes use of the two centre cushions to provide a gap which can be used to support the spine.

Rise & Recline - The T Back Riser Recliner Chair

Description

The T-Back by Rise & Recline features a  vertical gap which allows the pressure to be relieved when sitting for  long periods. Having the gap between the centre cushions helps support  the length of the spine and can relieve a lot of the pain of sitting,  especially if you suffer from a curved spine. The T-Back Riser Recliner  Chair is available with four options of movement, any fabric including  leather and made to fit your body for maximum comfort.

Made to Measure:

Whether you need a riser recliner for mobility, health conditions, or simply to enjoy leaning back and putting your feet up at the end of a long day, there are several benefits to having your chair ‘fitted’ to your size, body shape and weight. Why? Because we’re all different aren’t we? Different heights, different length of legs, weight!

Sitting down causes a number of stresses in our bodies, especially our spines, and this has recently begun to be more recognised by health professionals. It is the main reason for the sudden boom of rise and recliner chairs is because as a result there are many rise and recliner chairs on the market but few are made to fit. A fitted chair has been designed to best support your body, including considerations like posture, comfort, support and health.

There are serious health implications of prolonged sitting, and why this is a cause for concern for those who spend more than thirty hours sitting. If you have a condition, then there could be significant benefits to selecting the right rise and recline movements and chair style.

Choice is about ensuring that you select the right combination of chair style, seat cushion, rise recliner mechanism and having the chair built to your specific dimensions. The correct size of chair will ensure that you purchase a riser recliner that truly delivers personal comfort for you, because you are unique.

  • 1. Seat Depth - to ensure your thighs are well supported

  • 2. Seat Height - good posture requires your feet to be placed firmly on the ground

  • 3. Back Height - important if you have back issues, neck, spinal or vertebrae problems

  • 4. Back Support - back cushion selection will help with your posture and comfort

  • 5. Seat Width - the correct width will help to support your hips and arms

  • 6. Seating Support - your weight’s important and is critical to the cushion selection

  • 7. Elbow Height - arms should be able to rest comfortably on the armrest

The measurements ensure your new chair is set-up for you based on your body shape, size and dimensions. Whilst considering any healthcare medical problem affecting your comfort.

All riser recliner chairs follow a similar movement cycle, from standing to upright (sitting) and then back to full recline with leg elevation, and back again. This is why we recommend you get a professional 7-point seat fitting.

Mechanisms:

The Single Motor Tilt-in-Space:

The single motor tilt-in-space rise and recline chair mechanism is ideal for users who cannot reposition themselves. It eliminates shear forces on the users back, provides a seat ‘ramp’ to reduce the tendency to slip forwards in the chair.

Single motor tilt‐in‐space keeps the hip angle exactly the same and pivots the chair back to spread your body weight over a wider space.

The single motor tilt‐in‐space is used to give you the ability to tilt backwards and change your centre of gravity, helping reduce the chance of pressure injuries.

This movement also reduces the chances of you suffering from friction or shear when the chair is moving. A huge benefit for anyone with pressure sores. The single motor tilt‐in‐space can also elevate your ankles whilst maintaining the hip and knee angles. This is ideal for people who have bad circulation or swollen feet.

Single motor tilt‐in‐space is operated through an easy-to-use handset on the chair. All Rise and Recline chair styles are available in the single motor tilt‐in‐space movement.

The Wall Hugger Single Motor:

Wallhugger single motor mechanism means the movement takes up less space when you are reclining. Making it ideal for smaller living areas as well as for bedrooms.

Wallhugger riser recliner chairs are used in places where there is limited room, they are single motor and when reclined only have to be 4 inches from the wall making it a very versatile chair.

It still offers a full recline, because the whole wooden frame moves over its own axis. This chair is ideal for small rooms or confined areas where space is limited.

The movement slowly allows you to shift your centre of gravity and weight from the hips to the knees when rising to stand or lowering to a seated position.

The Standard Dual Motor:

The standard dual motor Rise and Recline chair offers you greater flexibility in your positioning. This is because the movement can adjust the back rest and the leg rest independently, to the seat itself. This makes it suitable for users who cannot tolerate friction on the elbows and wrists, because the arms of the chair remain fixed with the seat position.

The standard dual motor movement means you can lay close to flat on your chair. This functionality is suitable for users who have skeletal issues, and need regular alterations in position. This is most suitable for users who can reposition themselves.

The Dual Motor Tilt-in-Space:

The dual motor tilt-in-space movement is designed to maximise support throughout motion. This is because the two motors in the chair give you more flexibility over your positioning. This makes it especially suitable for skeletal issues and if you need regular alterations in position. Offering a high leg elevation to provide exceptional postural seating options to suit all individuals. This means you can lay close to flat on your chair.

As a result it offers the best combination of movement, because the different mechanisms provide the functionality to suit your comfort and pressure care requirements. As a standard, the hip and knee angle is 85°, however, it provides the option to adjust the backrest to a hip and knee angle that suits your comfort needs. This means that your selected hip and knee angle is retained throughout the movement.
